Find your Zumba community on udansa
On udansa, you connect with other instructors in your region, exchange information about training opportunities, and find highly motivated participants for your courses.
As a Zumba instructor, you share your energy with your participants every week. To ensure you can continue to offer your courses legally and successfully, you must renew your license on time and secure your status.
The Zumba Instructor Status is the official proof that an instructor has been trained by the Zumba Academy and has the legal permission to offer courses under the protected brand name Zumba.
The official license after the first day of training is the proud start of your career as an instructor. However, this license is not a lifetime pass. Zumba Fitness strictly protects the quality of its brand, which is why the Zumba license validity is limited to exactly one year by default. Anyone who wants to continue teaching and use the protected logo for their own courses after that must take action. The licensing expires automatically the day after the expiration date if no renewal takes place. Without a valid status, the name Zumba may not appear on flyers or in course schedules.
To extend the Zumba license, there are essentially two ways. The first and most strongly encouraged path by the Zumba Academy is joining the official Zumba Instructor Network, or ZIN for short. As long as you are a paying member of this network, your Zumba Instructor status remains active without interruption. The second way is through regularly repeating training courses or completing further education to manually renew your eligibility. However, this requires precise scheduling so that no gap arises in your teaching authorization.

The ZIN network is much more than just an administrative fee for your license. By paying your monthly membership fee, you permanently secure the right to offer and promote classes without ever having to repeat basic training. Maintaining your ZIN benefits also means you get exclusive access to brand-new music tracks, professionally developed choreographies, and extensive marketing materials. Zumba provides its instructors with new playlists and instructional videos every month, which can be used directly in class.
If you decide against a ZIN membership, you must reactivate your license by attending another official training session before the year expires. This could be an advanced module, such as Zumba Gold or Zumba Kids, for example. Anyone who misses the deadline loses their official status completely and, in the worst case, must repeat the entire Zumba instructor training from scratch to be allowed to teach legally again. Therefore, it is recommended to always keep an eye on the expiration date in your personal instructor profile.
Set up an automatic notification in the Zumba online portal that reminds you to renew your license three months before it expires. This gives you enough time to book a suitable training course if you are not a ZIN member.
The license is the foundation, but continuous training is what makes you exciting for your participants as an instructor every single week.
If you want to teach courses successfully in the long term, you cannot avoid organized administration. Beyond the purely bureaucratic renewal, how you present yourself as an instructor is crucial for your success. Use the official marketing templates that you are entitled to with your active license to create professional flyers and social media posts. An active status also signals to gyms and adult education centers that you are up to date with the latest training science and choreography.
Do not forget to network with the local dance scene outside of the Zumba platform as well. On udansa, for example, you can create a profile as an instructor to be found directly by dance enthusiasts in your area. The combination of a consistently active license, fresh choreography from the ZIN network, and a strong presence on platforms like udansa will ensure you have full classrooms and a loyal community that looks forward to the next sweaty session every single week.
The uncomplicated permanent status for active instructors
You pay a monthly fee to the Zumba Instructor Network. Your license remains permanently active, and you receive new music, ready-made choreographies, and promotional materials directly in your app every month.
The path for occasional instructors without a subscription
You do not pay any monthly fees. Instead, you must book a paid additional training course before the year expires to extend your license for another year, and you organize your music yourself.
Your Zumba license is valid for exactly one year after the first day of training. After that, it expires automatically if you do not renew it or are not a member of the ZIN network.
