Zumba instructor training: Your path to an official license
By Mary De LucaUpdated
- The official Zumba instructor training takes place exclusively through the Zumba Academy by participating in a Basic 1 (B1) training.
- The Zumba license costs for the one-day introductory seminar range between approximately 250 and 450 euros, depending on the time of booking.
- After successfully completing the seminar, you will receive the official Zumba instructor certificate, which entitles you to lead classes for one year.
The step from enthusiastic course participant to licensed instructor is the key to your own fitness career. With the official Zumba Academy, you can make this start in a structured and legally secure way with udansa.
What you need for your training
- Minimum age of 18 years on the day of the seminar
- Good physical fitness and stamina for an intensive day of practice
- Basic sense of timing and rhythm
- Valid ticket for an official Basic 1 (B1) training
- Willingness to speak in front of people and lead a group
The official path via the Zumba Academy
The official Zumba Academy is the heart for everyone who wants to take the high-energy workout from participant status to the next level. Official licensing is mandatory to use the protected brand name Zumba for your own course offerings and to teach legally in gyms or dance schools. The path there leads through a standardized, one-day introductory training called Basic 1 (B1), which is led by a certified Zumba Education Specialist (ZES). In this intensive seminar, you will learn the fundamental framework of the four basic rhythms: Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Reggaeton. You will learn how the special Zumba formula system works, which combines music and movement without classic counting.
Anyone who takes this step creates the foundation for a professional career in the field of Zumba. The training does not require years of prior experience as a fitness trainer, but rather a sense of rhythm, enthusiasm, and the willingness to lead a group. After successfully completing the seminar, you will hold the official license in your hands and may officially call yourself a Zumba instructor for one year. To keep the status active in the long term and to continuously receive fresh material, most trainers choose the official network.
