There are two main forms of Balboa, which usually merge seamlessly into one another. Pure Balboa is danced exclusively in a very tight, closed dance position (chest-to-chest). The movement takes place almost exclusively in the feet, which makes it look extremely elegant and calm. Bal-Swing, on the other hand, opens up this posture for turns, transitions and dynamic figures (similar to
Lindy Hop), but retains the typical Balboa footwork and the upright upper body.
