The moment is drawing near and your heart is pounding. With the right mental and physical acute techniques, you can transform extreme stage fright into positive energy for your big performance.
When your heart is pounding and your palms are sweaty, it is completely normal on your wedding day. Stage fright before the wedding dance is a natural stress reaction of the body, which is preparing for a perceived exceptional situation. It is important to understand that this nervousness is not a weakness, but excess energy that you can channel purposefully. This evening is not about a flawless world championship choreography, but about your shared moment as a couple. The guests in the room are not strict judges, but your family and friends who will support you kindly and accompany every step with applause.
To reduce acute anxiety before the first dance, a conscious shift of focus helps. Instead of going through the entire sequence of steps for the Waltz in your head, you should concentrate on the here and now. If you are wondering how you can calm down before the wedding dance, the key lies in the connection to your partner. Look into each other's eyes and take a deep breath together. As soon as the music starts, only the connection between the two of you counts, while the surroundings fade into the background.

Retreat to a quiet place for two minutes, for example a side corridor or a separate room. Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nose four times, and exhale through your mouth for twice as long.
Shake out your arms and legs loosely to reduce the adrenaline in your muscles. Gently roll your shoulders backwards and consciously let them drop to relax your neck muscles.
Take your partner's hands and look deep into each other's eyes. Remind each other that you are dancing this dance only for one another and that the guests in the room support you unconditionally.
Say a positive sentence to each other quietly, such as: We can do this and we will have fun doing it. As soon as the music starts, walk onto the dance floor with your head held high and focus only on feeling the beat together.

Drink a few sips of still, lukewarm water before the dance. This calms the larynx and releases physical tension, while ice-cold or carbonated drinks can put additional strain on the stomach.
Take a deep breath together and smile at each other. As soon as you are in each other's arms, focus exclusively on your shared rhythm and consciously tune out the audience in the room.
Simply continue with the basic step or improvise a gentle swaying movement. The guests usually do not notice small deviations from the choreography at all, as long as you keep smiling.
Prepare together and gain the necessary confidence for your opening dance.
