Two worlds between the dance floor and club party
April 30th marks the start of the open-air season in Hanover and puts dance schools between List, Linden, and Südstadt in a festive mood. Anyone wanting to attend a dance into May in Hanover on this evening will quickly realize: there are two completely different worlds. On one side, there are traditional dance schools and community centers that entice with real parquet floors, formal attire, and refined partner dancing ranging from Discofox to Viennese Waltz and Slowfox. On the other side, club spaces like the Kulturzentrum Faust in Linden or the Pavillon at Raschplatz fill up with party guests, where free-spirited celebrating to pop and dancefloor hits takes center stage.
For partner dancers, it is worth taking a close look at the program. Pure club events rarely offer enough space for expansive ballroom steps. If you specifically want to dance in a classic style, reserve spots weeks in advance at the major dance school balls or club celebrations. You can find an overview of the regular weekend program in the guide for dance parties in Hanover, but the May dance follows its own rules: table reservations are usually mandatory, and the audience mixes all age groups from tournament dancers to recreational couples.
